The Diversion Desktop App is out!

Hello Diversion community! 🦥

We're thrilled to bring you some exciting updates that many of you have eagerly anticipated!

Desktop App Released!

The Desktop App is now ready for you to enjoy! No more switching to the terminal for basic commands. You can clone, create new repositories, log in, and check sync status (in progress or completed) directly from the app. Other actions mirror the functionalities of the web app, offering a seamless experience.

  • Feedback: Please try it out and let us know your thoughts or report any issues.

Selective Sync is Now Production-Ready

We've significantly refined Selective Sync to better suit your needs:

  • In case you don't want to clone or sync locally all the repo (whether you're a developer that doesn't need the assets folder, an artist that doesn't need the code folder, or your repo contains multiple projects and you work only on some of them) — you can now select through the 'Workspace Settings' in the web only the folders that you want to have in your local workspace.
  • When you uncheck a folder, all of the local files of this folder will be deleted, but don’t worry—while the files are removed from your local environment, they remain safely stored in the repository. If you have uncommitted changes, we'll block this operation to ensure that no work is lost.

Merge Algorithm Enhancements

Our merge algorithm has seen substantial improvements:

Experience fewer conflicts and enjoy auto-resolved conflicts, mostly in text and code files.

  • New Feature: Try the new CLI command dv merge-preview <branch_name to see a web-based display of impending merge differences.
  • Coming Soon: We’re enhancing the merge preview UX to integrate it directly with the web, allowing every merge request to utilize this feature.

What’s Next?

Your feedback has been instrumental in these developments, and we can't wait for you to try them out. Stay tuned for more updates!

  • Unreal Engine Plugin: Soon available directly from the Unreal Engine Marketplace.
  • Usage Quota: View the current size of each repo directly on your dashboard.
  • Sync Visibility: Gain better insights into ongoing uploads and downloads.
  • More Merge Improvements: Look forward to a new merge-preview page and the ability to resolve conflicts in bulk (as many of you requested!).
